Special counsel Robert Mueller has completed a round of questioning of the highest-level aide still working at the White House known to have talked to investigators. White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller has been interviewed as part of Mueller’s ongoing investigations.
Stephen Miller’s role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey was among the topics discussed during the interview as part of the probe into possible obstruction of justice, according to one of the sources reporting this new revelation. Miller assisted Trump in writing a memo that explained why Trump planned to fire Comey, according to sources “familiar with the matter.”
Stephen Miller was also present when Trump foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos let the entire Trump foreign policy team know, including candidate Trump and Jeff Sessions, that he could arrange a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin through his connections. Recall too that Miller was Sessions’ communications director in the Senate before he joined the Trump campaign in January 2016.
Miller’s interview indicates that special counsel Mueller is still escalating both his Russia investigation and looking into possible obstruction of justice by President Trump for firing Comey. Mueller has been at work for months and is continually interviewing increasingly higher level players such as Miller, which indicates the investigation is not wind downing by any means.
