President Trump condemned “in the strongest possible terms” the disturbing situation and ongoing violence in Charlottesville, and called for “a swift restoration of law and order.” Although he condemned the violence, he failed to condemn the root cause, hundreds of white nationalists, neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members that are holding protests in Virginia. As a result, white supremacists are already taking Trump’s failure to disavow them as subtle support for their cause, as we shall see below.
Obviously we have a right to free speech in this country, but we should discourage and condemn things that are so blatantly wrong, like being a Nazi. Trump is playing a dangerous game here with all our lives by not condemning the cause of this disturbance of law and order. One person has already died and at least five people have been severely injured after alt-right white supremacists drove a car into a crowd of Black Lives Matters counter protestors.
“It’s been going on for a long time in our country, not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. It’s been going on for a long, long time,” Trump said. He ignored questions from reporters about what he thought of the white nationalists at the event who said they supported him and were inspired by him, and thereby ignored a chance to condemn the root cause of the violence today.
We will continue to follow developments in Charlottesville, and will provide whatever assistance is needed. We are ready, willing and able. pic.twitter.com/mCTYBgUePi

A popular white supremacist site called the Daily Stormer, hailed Trump’s remarks as being “really good,” noting that he “didn’t attack us.” They were also pleased he ignored the questions from reporters asking what he though about white supremacists.
“Trump comments were good. He didn’t attack us. He just said the nation should come together. Nothing specific against us. He said that we need to study why people are so angry, and implied that there was hate… on both sides! So he implied the antifa are haters. There was virtually no counter-signaling of us at all. He said he loves us all. Also refused to answer a question about White Nationalists supporting him. No condemnation at all. When asked to condemn, he just walked out of the room. Really, really good. God bless him.” said the White Supremacist site.
This situation has already spiraled out of control, as Governor McAuliffe has declared a state of emergency. We can only hope that things can come under control soon and that no one else gets hurt. Odds are high that something else might happen, as people will want revenge for the deaths that happened today.
