We are just slightly less than two weeks from the 2020 Iowa Democratic caucuses and Hillary Clinton has decided to step in and attack candidate and Senator Bernie Sanders. Hillary gave an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that was published today, to talk about her upcoming documentary about the 2016 election.
Hillary is receiving immense backlash online for her comments because they were deeply critical of Sanders and because Sanders is very popular in the party right now. Hillary called him a “career politician” who “nobody likes.” Jeez.
“In the doc, you’re brutally honest on Sanders: ‘He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him. Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done. He was a career politician. It’s all just baloney and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it,'” Hollywood Reporter Lacey Rose said, which is a direct quote of Clinton from the documentary. She then sought clarification, “That assessment still hold?”
“Yes, it does,” Clinton responded. This is a massive public relations failure for Hillary because Bernie Sanders is very popular among Democrats. She even went on to refuse to say whether she would endorse Sanders if he gets the nomination, even though he ended up endorsing her in the 2016 election.

“I’m not going to go there yet. We’re still in a very vigorous primary season,” Clinton said of a possible endorsement. “I will say, however, that it’s not only him, it’s the culture around him. It’s his leadership team. It’s his prominent supporters. It’s his online Bernie Bros and their relentless attacks on lots of his competitors, particularly the women.”
A lot of folks want Hillary Clinton to move on and blame her for losing to Trump in 2016, so this is not going to help her out at all. Sanders and Joe Biden are the current front runners for the 2020 presidential election and it is very close because they are both very popular. Hillary speaking so negatively about Sanders is absolutely going to evoke the wrath of his very passionate followers. It’s also just not true that “nobody” likes Sanders as many people do.
