Donald Trump tried to claim yesterday that his suggestion that people could inject disinfectants into their bodies to fight Coronavirus, was nothing but “sarcasm.” But less than 24 hours later, New York City’s Poison Control Center is reporting troubling news.
NYC poison control says it has received at least 30 calls about issues related to Lysol, bleach, and other disinfectants in the 24 hours after Trump’s comments. Around this same time last year, they only got two calls about bleach related poison issues.
They also reported that, and thank God, none of the 30 calls have resulted in death. But we are not out of the woods yet because it can take days for people to catch up to the news and news can spread for weeks. These are idiots listening to Trump after all.
We are seeing some Conservatives on social media trying to downplay this thirty times increase in calls to poison control, but they fail to realize that this is just one city! Yes, New York City is one of the most populated cities in the nation, but the entire nation is of course way larger as a whole. If NYC is seeing spikes in improper use of disinfectants, what are the numbers for the nation?
Trump’s comments were so bad that the manufacturer of Lysol was forced to issue a press release titled “Improper use of Disinfectants.” Trump tried to say yesterday about his comments on injection that, “No I was asking a question sarcastically, to reporters like you, just to see what would happen.
"I was asking a sarcastic, & a very sarcastic question, to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside. But it does kill it." — Trump tries to rewrite history, says he was speaking "sarcastically" when he mused about disinfectant injections being cure for Covid. pic.twitter.com/bWRU8EV6FZ

It looks like Trump’s “sarcasm” is already having a negative impact. If even one person dies from his comments, that’s enough to remove him from office. This man is dangerous in more ways than we can keep track of.
