One of the most significant milestones in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe is reportedly going to be here within the “next few weeks.” The WaPo reported today that Mueller is set to have a personal sit down with President Trump for some questioning.
Someone “close” to the investigation claims that Trump will be interviewed within the next few weeks on a “limited” number of questions relating to the Russia probe. The person “close” to the investigation, speaking on condition of anonymity, says that, “This is moving faster than anyone really realizes.”
Someone with knowledge of the investigation claiming that Mueller’s probe is moving faster than anyone realizes is a profound development to say the least. Trump seems to be oblivious to what is happening to him, in part, because we have consistently heard that his lawyers are telling him that he is not in any danger from Mueller’s probe.
The person “close” to the investigation also said that the interview is going to happen because Trump is comfortable with participating in the questioning and believes it will show that his campaign did not collude with Russia during the 2016 election. Mueller reportedly brought up the interview with Trump during a meeting with Trump’s attorneys John Dowd and Jay Sekulow in December, according to the outlet.
Mueller has set his date to speak with Trump and we will find out exactly when it will take place soon. Just the fact that we know it is coming within the next few weeks, is huge. If Trump is going to speak to Mueller off the record, he will not survive. If he thinks he can talk his way out of this, he has another thing coming.
There is no way he will be able to outsmart Mueller’s carefully crafted questions. It is also difficult to maintain a web of lies and Trump has no idea just how much evidence Mueller may have. One wrong lie and answer to a question, and President Trump will be indicted.
