The country’s search for a legitimate reason as to why Donald Trump ordered the drone strike on Iran’s top general has basically just been closed, after Trump admitted late this morning that the real reason behind the strike, “doesn’t really matter.”
Trump told the nation that it did not matter whether Soleimani was planning an imminent attack, because of his “horrible past.” This implies Trump did it for revenge, but he also stuck to the lie that he did it due to an imminent attack. This makes no sense and is an obvious contradiction.
“The Fake News Media and their Democrat Partners are working hard to determine whether or not the future attack by terrorist Soleimani was “imminent” or not, & was my team in agreement. The answer to both is a strong YES., but it doesn’t really matter because of his horrible past!” Trump posted.

Aside from the fact that Trump clearly doesn’t know the difference between “imminent” and “eminent,” this statement from him flatly proves that the real reason Trump carried out the attack is so damaging to him, that he will never say it. If there was a legitimate reason behind the strike, why wouldn’t the administration have simply said so?
If there really was a legitimate reason, wouldn’t it kind of make the administration look good? Because they would be showing that they are protecting us from legitimate threats. But instead it’s the opposite, we aren’t getting a concrete reason. Even worse, the president is literally saying that it “doesn’t matter.”
In a way, Trump has narrowed down the speculation into why he carried out the strike with his constantly shifting lies on why he did it. We can now rule out a legitimate reason, why means he must have carried out the strike due to some combination of wanting a distraction from impeachment and it being simply a reckless decision.
We can’t wait to not have a president who has told us both that we don’t have a “right” to and it “doesn’t matter” what his reasons behind an attack that almost lead to World War 3 were.
