Donald Trump will be attending former President George H.W. Bush’s funeral today at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Trump made a statement about the funeral this morning and wants you to know that it’s not a funeral.
“Looking forward to being with the Bush family. This is not a funeral, this is a day of celebration for a great man who has led a long and distinguished life. He will be missed!” Trump said this morning on social media.

You can see what Trump was trying to do with this statement, but it ended up being another situation where he should have just kept his mouth shut. You should never say you are looking forward to being at a funeral. In addition, you never know how the grieving family is handling the passing of their loved one, so don’t try to say it’s not a funeral and is a celebration instead. Celebrations are fun, funerals are not.
Trump literally cannot contain his excitement for this funeral, which is also literally disturbing. Who gets excited for a funeral? Only a narcissist who knows they will be getting attention at a funeral would be excited for it. Trump knows people will be watching to see if he does anything offensive and that excites him.
Former Presidents Obama, George W. Bush, Clinton and Carter, will join leaders from across the world in attending H.W. Bush’s funeral. Trump has declared today a day of mourning and the federal government is closed for the day. Seeing his biggest opponents for the first time in over a year at the funeral, may be what has Trump overly excited.
His statement from this morning follows a similar message from earlier this week where he said he is, “Looking forward to being with the Bush Family to pay my respects to President George H.W. Bush.” Hopefully the funeral goes well, but expect controversy because it seems like Trump is setting out to do just that with ridiculous statements like the one below and the one he made this morning.
