Trump Claims He’s Finally Made Mexico Pay For His Wall, But The Truth Is A Disaster

Donald Trump?claimed Thursday morning that “Mexico is paying for?the wall”?through savings?the U.S. will make based on his yet to be implemented U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).?Trump is trying to use the USMCA trade deal to deliver on his campaign promise that he would get Mexico to pay for the wall, but this is nothing but lies.

“I often stated, ?One way or the other, Mexico is going to pay for the Wall.? This has never changed. Our new deal with Mexico (and Canada), the USMCA, is so much better than the old, very costly & anti-USA NAFTA deal, that just by the money we save, MEXICO IS PAYING FOR THE WALL!” Trump said this morning.

This is nothing more than pig slop to feed his supporters. If Mexico was paying for the wall, then why is Trump fighting with Pelosi and Schumer over funding of his wall? Trump has no money for his wall and he isn’t going to get it, which will ruin what is arguably the biggest promise he campaigned on. Just so you know how fake this claim by Trump is, former Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray issued a statement after an initial agreement on the USMCA was announced, in which he clarified that Mexico would never pay for the wall, even through the new deal.

Democrats have too much leverage over Trump after winning the House in the midterms and it is being used.?Senate Democratic Leader?Charles Schumer?said this morning that Democrats will not approve funding for Trump’s border wall and are completely fine with waiting until January to negotiation, when the Democratic majority in the House goes into session.? ?I want to be crystal clear. There will be no additional appropriations to pay for the border wall. It?s done,? Schumer said on the Senate floor.

?When Democrats take control of the House in January, Democrats will pass one of our two options to fund the government and then Leader McConnell and Senate Republicans will be left holding the bag for a Trump shutdown,? Schumer said.

Congressional Democrats have so much leverage that they can openly state their strategy like Schumer just did. That’s how weak Trump and the GOP are right now, which is why Trump isn’t going to be able to deliver on his promise that Mexico pay for a border wall. Trump’s real negotiating “skill” is being fully exposed here, and it’s going as bad as it possibly could.
