Trump Just Created A Constitutional Crisis By Arguing That He Can Pardon Himself

Donald Trump said this morning that he has “the absolute right” to pardon himself, and argued that he has “done nothing wrong,’ all the signs of a guilty conscience. What he said alone should be grounds for impeachment. With Mueller getting so close to taking down Trump, we are at the break glass in case of emergency point after this statement.

“As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!” Trump said this morning.

Some may say that the crisis will come when he makes the actually move to pardon himself. But dictatorships begin with very deliberate propaganda and misdirection. Waiting until he actually pardons himself is way, way too late. Words have value, and he should face consequences for them. Otherwise we risk normalizing this behavior.

Trump also essentially went for the throat of Mueller’s investigation and called it unconstitutional this morning. In Trump’s world it’s fine to pardon himself and wrong for him to be investigated. Anyone still want to say that this isn’t a constitutional crisis?

“The appointment of the Special Councel is totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL! Despite that, we play the game because I, unlike the Democrats, have done nothing wrong!” Trump said.
