We finally have confirmation of the damage sustained by Iran’s missile strike last night on the United States’ two bases in the country. Donald Trump revealed that “minimal damage” was sustained to U.S. military bases in the attack and that there were absolutely no casualties among Iraq or the United States.
“Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world. No American or Iraqi lives were lost because of precautions taken, and an early warning system that worked very well,” Trump said to the nation.
Trump announced sanctions in response to the attack and made it clear that there will not be any kind of United States military response. Trump claiming that this is Iran “standing down” is his way out of his catastrophic decision to take out Iran’s top general. Best believe that some kind of internal polling among Trump’s base indicated that even his followers don’t want war with Iran.
Trump sniffled and had trouble pronouncing certain words in his relatively short announcement and response to the Iranian strike. You can watch the live stream in the footage below.
This means that impeachment and the 2020 elections are back on the table because war with Iran has effectively been called off. Stories about Iran will now quickly fade out of the news as focus returns to impeachment and the constantly heating up 2020 elections.
This was all Trump’s fault and we have to be glad that Iran pulled off such a safe counter attack. If it was worse, Trump would have went to war. Trump’s reading off a teleprompter shows that at least someone has enough control to prevent us from war.
As Trump read off the teleprompter, you could tell he was reading the statements for the first time and was just becoming informed of the situation himself. His staff must have worked all night creating this response and hid most of it from him until he read it off the teleprompter.
