Even though it is not regularly covered in the news anymore, many areas in California are still rebuilding and recovering from the disastrous wildfires that occurred last year and were the worst on record. The loss of life and destruction of property was horrific, with more than 84 lives being lost, but despite this, Donald Trump just decided to take the worst possible approach in the ongoing effort to rebuild.
Trump has ordered the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to stop sending money for recovery and rebuilding to California until they “get their act together.” Trump is creating conditions for the state and victims to receive money they need, but is not specifying what those conditions are.
“Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forrest fires that, with proper Forrest Management, would never happen. Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!”

It is disturbing that Trump is holding these needed resources back and even thinks it is “unlikely” that California will be able to meet his conditions anyway. This is close to being a worst case scenario as playing games on resources people need to rebuild their homes is as inhumane as it gets.
Let’s just remind ourselves how terrible of a disaster this was and the devastation that Trump explicitly is saying he doesn’t care about. People lost everything, including their lives, and Donald Trump doesn’t want to let the government use the taxpayer’s money to help them. These people paid their taxes to help them in an emergency just like this.
