A soon to be released interview with President Trump’s ex wife, Ivana Trump, includes details that are so intriguing, that they’ve already been released for consumption. Among them is what will finally be a solid reason as to why Donald Trump continues to use social media to get himself into trouble.
Ivana Trump, Trump’s first wife, told CBS in the interview that will air Sunday, that she still talks to Donald at least once a week and that it was her who encouraged Trump to start using Twitter to “bypass the media.” “I said, ‘I think you should tweet. It’s a new way, a new technology,’” Ivana Trump said, “And if you want to get your words across rightly, without telling The New York Times, which is going to twist every single word of yours, this is how you get your message out.”
It is interesting that President Trump still talks to his ex-wife once per week. That detail sticks out, probably because it offers a hint as to what is really going on with their apparent relationship. Donald is terrified of what Ivana might say about him, if she decided she wanted to tell all. This interview she just gave is probably her way of reminding him that she still has that leverage over him.
She apparently bragged quite a bit about her lifestyle during the interview, literally referring to her life as, “perfect.” Her message to Donald seems very clear; keep the money flowing in and maintain my lifestyle, and I’ll keep my mouth shut. Even more evidence of this, is that he offered her the position of U.S. ambassador to the Czech Republic, which would obviously have been a favor to stay on her good side, had she taken it.
“I was just offered to be the American ambassador to Czech Republic — and Donald told me, he said, ‘Ivana, if you want it, I give it to you,’” Ivana said, “But I like my freedom. I like to do what I want to do, go wherever I want to go with whomever I want to go. And I can afford my lifestyle. OK, why would I go and say bye-bye to Miami in the winter, bye-bye to Saint-Tropez in the summer, and bye-by to spring and fall in New York? I have a perfect life.”
That clearly translate into her saying something to the effect of, “No thanks Donald, you don’t need to pay me off with an ambassador job to make me feel important, just maintain my lavish and ‘perfect’ lifestyle and I’ll stay quiet.” If she really believes she has the perfect life, why would she throw herself into the spotlight with this interview? This is clearly a reminder to Trump, that he needs to keep her happy, or she will begin talking.
